Can this "Cap'n" halt the External Invasion?
Star System: Unknown Date: 2501-05-04 An External entity, previously unknown to Concord Survey & First Contact Counselors, calling himself, "The Cap'n", is gaining much attention for this GRID holo statement: "The area you refer to as 'The Verge', is about to be invaded on such a large scale unlike any seen in any of your respective histories. I am calling on all starship captains, military commanders, private vessels, stations, and orbital platforms to prepare. I propose that all the petty squabbling be set aside and the forces of the Verge unite to repel these invaders. It is your choice: unite or die."
Bold words from an entity previously unknown have caused a stir in the "invasion conspiracy" circles on a number of Verge GRIDS. Though the recent attacks of kroath and klicks in both the Verge and the Stellar Ring have increased anxiety and paranoia; the majority of Vergers are taking this with a grain of sodium chloride. This holo statement was originally released in the Alaundran GRID, and quickly spread like a virus to all other Verge GRIDs. Though sources cannot confirm this, it is rumored that this "The Cap'n"'s holo statement is to have already made its way to the Stellar Ring, where within the T'sa Cluster it is being taken quite seriously. The T'san Embassy was unavailable for comment as of this writing.
Alaundran Naval sources, under the promise of anonimity, have confirmed that this "Cap'n" owns and pilots, the vessel referred to in the holo, the Area 51,
and that "it played a role in the recent klick attack in high Alaundril orbit." "The Cap'n", however, had not replied to requests for interviews, instead referred us back to the holo statement.

Commodore Nova to Nariacs: "Get out!"
Star System: Kai Date: 2504-10-15 Nova Station, in the Nova Belt, somewhere in orbit around planet Ahbal
Following an incident between the burgeoning Nariac colony on Kirlinao and the independant aministration of Kixil Staton, Commodore Mig Nova minced no words: "The Nariacs must halt all of their operations on Kirlinao and leave the Kai system permanently." Commodore Nova gave the Nariacs two months to evacuate. Furthermore, it is reported that he threatened to fire upon any Nariac vessel detected in Kai space after that time.
Commodore Nova- principal administrator of Kixil Station- had made several violent threats during an argument with Alexander Anaximenes, the director of the Nariac Domain's outpost on Kai's third planet, Kirlinao. The spat began over the Nariac's alleged failure to pay Kixil Station for the use of its communications systems and for several spare parts installed their starship, The Comrade, when it was repaired at Kixil Station's shipyard. Last week the disagreement was drastically elevated when a representative from Kixil Station was allegedly held against his will during a visit to the
Nariac outpost on Kirlinao. Commodore Nova responded by ordering that the Nariacs halt their operations on Kirlinao and leave the Kai system permanently. Nova gave the Nariacs two months to evacuate.
Director Anaximenes filed a report of the incident with the leadership of the Domain, lodged a formal complaint with the Galatic Concord & made copies available to TVN. TVN has learned that Concord is planning to dispatch the vessel Redemption, with Concord Representatives Gerry Muritz and Akru Serrir to the Kai system to launch an investigation into the complaint.
For the Concord to come to the Kai system for an investigation, or even a visit is unprecendented. To date, only few dignitaties have jounryed to Kai to visit Kixil Station. This ground-based space station holds the dubious distinction of being the first permanent settlement in the small, cold system about 20 light years from Tendril space. Concord representatives had never before visited Kixil Station. In fact, the entire Kai system could be easily overlooked if not for the Kixil Station's high profile relations with Galactic Enterprises, Ion Productions, and formerly the Nariac Domain.
The Administration of Kixil Station could not be reached for comment at time of press.
[Author's note: mig_nova also contributed heavily to this TVN report.]

Bri-aitsya faces Bluefall charges
Star System: Aegis Date: 2503-02-29 Arriving just moments ago aboard the Area 51, Bri'-aitsya had arrived on Bluefall in the Aegis system, presumably to face charges he & his crewmates are facing regarding The Hughes Island Incident.
Bri'-aitysa brusquely brushed off reporters gathered at the scene with a gruff, "No comment", as he greeted his lawyer, Maximus Cochran, and left the spaceport on Regent Island. Bri'-aitysa, a t'sa male formerly in the employ of Ion Productions as the Deparement Chief of the Robotics division on Alaundril arrived on the Area 51, the vessel of the mysterious External known only as "The Cap'n", walked past reporters, greeted Cochran, and the two entered Cochran's waiting skycar, heading towards Cochran's law offices.
He, and the other crew of the "Liquid Sky", are facing a number of charges related to the surprise destruction on Bluefall a few weeks ago. The charges include: risking a catastrophe, causing a catastrophe, unleashing an unknown xenoform into the ecosystem, and punitive damages. To date, no other "Liquid Sky" crew has contacted the regency and the bounty stands.
Correction to the previous report: "Starbirth", the mechalus female is from Kansas Station, Karnath, but holds Insight citizenship; and Sturnhak Meehn Abhal is noteworthy in the CSS simply because he is one of very few bhruu doing field work for CSS. His past work with them has been on a contract-only basis.
Update: The one human female, Mei Lei Na, a former crewmember of the "Liquid Sky", is currently in custody on Alaundril, facing other charges of espionage, and sabotage (of all things, against her former crew). Sources tell TVN that she is somehow implicated with the rogue A.I., "Vector Fields". Extradition hearing is pending.
Spokesperson for the Regency, Sara Holden, held a press conference afterwards, stating, "I'm glad that Bri'-aitsya had the sense to spare us the trouble of hunting him and his crew down. I can only hope that he will be co-operative in our questioning of him, regarding this incident."

Fraal Mindwalker missing; sister searches
Star System: Tendril Date: 2504-06-05 Jiri-Thaah, from the Union of Sol, arrived about 2 months ago to the Verge in search of her eccentric brother, Gil-Thaah; a fraal Mind Knight and priestof the ancient Earth religion/cult of voodoo. To date, her efforts have been in vain, and is asking for help in locating her lost brother.
"My brother was somewhat estranged from the family, ever since taking up this odd, primitive religion during his Mind Knight training", she says. "We would hear from him every few months or so, but it has been well over a year and a half and there has been no contact. He mentioned relocating to the Verge, and it is logical that a first stop would be here in Tendril; but here the trial goes cold. I am currently working with Alaundril authorities offering my mindwalking talents, but to no avail. It's as though there were a cloak of black satin shrouding his last movements on this planet. I do not know what else to say, but I am quite concerned."
TVN has learned from Jiri-Thaah that when Gil-Thaah was nearing the completion of his mindwalker studies that he "became involved with some sort of shaman, and embraced this new religion". That religion was the Old Earth cult of voodoo, originating in Earth's Carrebean islands, specifically Haiti. It is known that he took a three year sabbattical from his training to live in Haiti, and when he returned, his behavior seemed very odd.
Headmaster Joren Liir of the Shha Academy, where Gil-Thaah recieved his training, had this to say: "Gil-Thaah was one of our better students, and a promising Mind Knight. We thought nothing of his request for a sabbattical, as we know that this program is demanding, and his reason for 'learning of new cultures' was one we support, especially if it involves our human friends.
"Imagine our surprise when he returned, effecing these odd mannerisms: the odd accent, the discussion of loa, whatever they are; the antagonism towards faculty and otehr students. We were not pleased. However, his studies were excellent, and we found little reason to act then to correct this behavior, and he graduated with honors."
Gil-Thaah was last seen in the Tendril system, and all grid activity related to his biosignature ends there. Tendril authorities are at a loss for an explanation of his whereabouts. One official with Tendril's New Arrivers Ministry, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confided to TVN that "This guy's a real whack-job. I remember him. How can anyone forget a fraal like him? Granted, I've not dealt with many fraal, but this one was reaaly giving me the creeps. Kept mumbling about some book he had to find; and talking to someone. At first, I thought he was talking to me, and when I told him that he could get directions to the library on the Grid, he flashed me this look, I swear, if looks could kill...
"Anyway, he goes on to say that this book is none of my concern yet and that a puny mortal like me could not possibly understand. You see why I remember this guy now?"
Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Gil-Thaah is urged to contact Tendril authorities, or Jiri-Thaah, who can also be reached at this address: vtp://gil-thaah.jiri.tips/alaundril.tendril.verge

Gen. Karen Jestons offers intel; pleads for help
Star System: Tendril Date: 2504-02-14 Alaundril, TENDRIL:
A plea for help and an offer of intelligence on the invading External force from Gen. Karen Jestons, commanding officer of Shadow Rock base, was recently de-classified. "This is General Karen Jestons, requesting immediate assistance. Our situation here on Alaundril is urgent. Any StarMech or Verge Alliance forces recieving this transmission, please respond. ..."
The general went on to claim that Tendril's blockade is still ongoing, but revealed that a captive was taken alive at the Battle of Ignatus in August of last year. A member of the race known as "bareem" was taken captive, subdued, and has provided some intelligence to Star Force authorities, as well as an artifact. This hulking, hominid alien would stand 2.2 meters tall, though often prefers a hunched-over position, was captured by the battleship Pittsburgh's 4th boarding squad. Once the 3rd Battle Group was re-assigned to Tendril, the captive was taken immediately to Shadowrock Base.
The message transmitted during one of Tendril's frequent Burns, was heavily encrypted and tramsmitted on a secure, Concord distress frequency sometime in October, though only what was presented was made public.
This is what the Verge Alliance released to TVN:
*The captive's name is Krl'ojekh Ghundar Rhyss (Bm/Exeat/krl'osar2).
*Claims to be some low ranking member of the I'krl Theocracy.
*Demonstrates some unknown mindwalking ability, but was subdued, and later bound and kept under psirestraint.
*An artifact of unknown power and capability, resembing a crystal staff, 2 meters long, was the only object carried.
*The alien appears as to be very muscular, built like a weren, with luminescent eyes, and covered in think, coarse hair.
Verge Alliance officials would not reespond to any queries as to whether or not Gen. Jestons's request for aid was honored, stating that that information remains "classified".

CSV Little Rock AWOL in Lightning Nebula
Star System: Hammer's Star Date: 2504-03-25 Concord Intelligence officials have announced at a press conference an hour ago that telemetry and communications contact with the Vishon-class scout, "CSV Little Rock" has been lost, and communiques with the vessel are now 2 weeks overdue. Says Star Force Rear Admiral Haden Gerhardt, "'CSV Little Rock' was on a survey mission to the Lightning Nebula, dispatched out of the Hammer's Star system approximately six weeks ago. They were to maintain contact at designated points during their mission, and failed to do so at the last 3 comm points. Given what we know of the region, we regretfully must declare the vessel, and all hands on-board, lost."
"CSV Little Rock"'s mission to the Lightning Nebula is, and remains classified, yet today's anouncement is clearly breaking Star Force protocol. The reason for such a break with a public confession of a ship lost is puzzling to Star Force experts, especially given the tight-lipped response regarding its mission.
"[Expletive deleted], I don't know why they simply didn't just sweep this under the rug like they do with these other missions. Maybe these Externals and their assaults are getting to the Rear Admiral," says retired Star Force Commander Rick "Mad Dog" Neilsen.
It is widely speculated that given the recent and horrifying attacks by External forces, that "CSV Little Rock" was on a reconnaissance mission. Standard Vishon-class starships are not typically outfitted with stealth, nor cloaking technology. "CSV Little Rock", under the command of Capt. Jorge Richard, was orignally comissioned in 2489, and has been on patrol on the Hammer's Star system since arriving in the Verge. Capt. Richard was noted to be a fine officer, and the "CSV Little Rock" was his first command.
No further information was available about the "CSV Little Rock"'s mission, nor any planned response from Concord Star Force.
A full listing of the hands lost can be found at http://grid."CSV Little Rock".starforce.concord.hs.verge.

Exeat Blockade Destroys Nova 3 Hab-dome
Star System: Tendril Date: 2504-12-25 Exeat Blockade Destroys Nova 3 Hab-dome; Burn in >8hrs
Tendril, Alaundril---A squad of light bio-organic cruisers lead by the sifarv dreadnought flagship, the Nighthawk, focused their attacks on the lesser-known and lesser defended settlement of Alaundril, destroying the habitat dome and holding their position in blockade-fashion around the small city. Reports of ground troops, both klick and kroath, ring the settlement, and are openly hostile. No further attacks to the city have been reported, but Shadowrock sources confirm that the infamous Tendril Burn, which would kick up the radiation exposure from 17 rems a week, to 340 rems/week or 47.6 rems a day, is due in less than eight hours. To make matters worse, there are unconfirmed reports that the supplies of both anti-radiation serum and e-suits are not sufficient to protect the population.
“They can’t hold out long,” stated a source that asked for anonymity. “We have reason to believe this reflects a new, and yet unseen shift in tactics. They’ve been in the system long enough to figure this out. Not like a Burn’s all that tricky.” The Burn, as most Vergers would be familiar with, is the 67-day period when the parent star, Tendril, for reasons astrophysicists are still unclear, increases its radiation shedding for a period of 12-14 days. This effectively increases ones’ exposure to radiation, if unprotected, to the level normally experienced in a week to twenty times this within a single day. Normally, most settlements would be well protected, staying within their habitat domes. With the unconfirmed reports of limited supply of protective measures, and the increased External presence in that particular area makes the situation a risk to the inhabitants.
“There does not appear to be any way to get those people any assistance with shoring up their measures, and repair of the dome has not been attempted. What they’ll do from here is anyone’s guess. I pity those poor souls awaiting doom,” the source said. You can count on TVN to bring you more details as they come available.

Contact lost on Vieron colony; Empire 'guarded'
Star System: Thuldan Empire Date: 2504-03-09 GNA-Thuldan Prime, Thuldan Empire: "The last transmission of what remains of our fleet operating in the Vieron system was over three months ago. Cmmd. Pfender, in command of the colony after the kroath invasion, has not reported in this time. We can only hope that it is just a faulty drivesat relay," said Prime Centurion (Capt.) Melissa Stevens, liasion of the Thuldan Empire.
This shocking revelation comes as the External invasion of the Verge is still raw on our nerves, and the recent high cost victory in the Aegis system is still a gaping wound. PC Stevens was blunt in addressing this, but conceded that the worst-case scenario is a "possibility, though unlikely one".
"I have been ordered by Tribune Gray Marshall himself, upon recieving this comission, to assume command of the destroyer, ITD Evicserator to personally investigate the matter. We have been aware for some time that there has been... a problem with kroath presuming to attack our holdings in the Vieron system. My orders are to proceed to Corazon de Fuega, and investigate. Should it appear that the kroath have overrun the planet, the Empire will take this as an act of war."
"All available Thuldan vessels in the Verge are to rendez-vous there upon my arrival," snapped PC Stevens. And with that, she abruptly ended the conference.
Frankly it is puzzling that the Empire is putting this young Prime Centurion in command of what could be a very large fleet. No mention was made of any ground troops, so one can only speculate that the Empire plans to write off Corazon de Fuega and leave it a scortched, irradaited rock.
Stay tuned to GNA for late breaking details in this Thuldan crisis of the Vieron system.

Intelligence reports CFN seeking bio agents
Star System: Concord Taurus Date: 2503-02-25 Breaking news out of Concord Taurus: Concord Intelligence has learned that the terrorist group, "Concord Free Now" has been actively seeking biological weapons or agents that can be made into biological agents for some pending, unspecified attack.
Though the time and target of the pending attack by CFN is still unknown, Concord Intelligence has confirmed that a number of agents of CFN have been actively searching for biological agents, specifically.
Derrick Redmond, from CI, explains: "A number of our field agents have been in contact with members of a cell in the Verge, and have confirmed that these efforts of CFN have sharply increased, specifically in the search for biological weapons. It is unknown at this time if CFN has a specific target in mind, when this imminent will take place, but we do have some suspects that we would like all law enforcement agencies within the Verge to be on alert for. These suspects are: Jendra Jacobson, human female; Kylie Hyckok, human female; Ghorrd Rh'ikarr weren male; and Chi Jungo, mechalus male. They were last seen heading towards the Stellar Ring, but our contacts have learned they have recently returned to the Verge. These individuals are to be considered armed and very dangerous. We urge private citizens to report to their local law enforcement agencies any information that may be helpful in apprehending these known terrorists, and not to confront these individuals themselves."
It is unknown at present if these are the same individuals responsible for the theft of the Thuldan retrovirus, NX-01, but the similarity is remarkably stunning. Redmond declined to comment on any link between these individuals and the thieves who allegedly stole the Thuldan retrovirus.

Concord diplomat found dead
Star System: Aegis Date: 2504-02-20 Jhered Lho, a low-level fraal diplomat from Concord, was found dead in his apartement on Hughes Island on Bluefall yesterday. Regency and Hughes Island law enforcement has begun a preliminary inquest into his demise, and has reason to believe foul-play cannot be ruled out at this time.
"There were no apparent signs of forced entry, nor did the building security log any unusual visitors around the time of death for Lho. At this time, it would be premature to speculate on a motive for this, and we are treating this as a homicide at this point in the investigation," says police sergent Matthew Rhaymes. Lho was a minor diplomat, only recently assigned to The Verge, and is survived by a wife and 3 children, none of which were in the Verge at the time of Lho's death.
Though eerily reminicent of last year's still unsolved murder of fraal mystic, Sajir nid Hanras, in Babel on Alaundril, Tendril system, law enforcement authorities say such speculation is "premature at this time". Rhaymes: "I'll give you that two fraal were found dead under mysterious circumstances, but light-years apart? No, I don't think there's a connection. For their part, The Seers have not provided law enforcement nor the public any new information on that case, and appear to not wish to be involved in this one, either. Requests for interviews were declined.
A source working close to the case noted that there was no indication of weapons-fire, nor was the body apparently damaged in any way. The rationale for pursuing this as a homicide comes from Concord. "Whenever a diplomat turns up dead somewhere, Concord Diplomatic Corps is on it like flies on [explitive deleted]. You can bet that they're going to get the bottom of this soon," says the source, preferring to remain anonymous.
The body is being examined by the medical examiner's office, and a coroner's report will be posted when the autospy has been completed.
Anyone with any information regarding this crime is asked to contact Regency or Concord authorites on the AeGrid as soon as possible.

Hale arrives in Bluefall
Star System: Aegis Date: 2504-05-01 Bruce Hale, in his official capacity as Orion representative to the Galactic Consulate, arrived on Bluefall today, reuniting father with son: Christopher Hale, Regent of Bluefall. This coming some 6 months after the famed Attack of Aegis last December, where the Lighthouse was lost.
In what was a news-media event not to be missed, The Elder Hale was personally greeted by the Younger, within minutes of the transport from the Concord fortress ship, Excalibur-B landed. Father and son shook hands, smiling amiably, and each wispered in hte other's ear words that no reporter has claimed to have recorded... yet.
It is hoped that the significance of this visit is to inform the Verge Alliance of more help in the form of reinforcements from Old Space; but the precise nature of the unannounced visit is still not known at this time.
Accompanying Bruce Hale, the representative from VoidCorp, YC937 59NMP, silently stood by. But as the Concord representatives left the starport area and boarded a skycar transport towards a likely unlisted Regency submarine, YC937 59NMP handed out X3D's with the following holo-statement:
"The Verge Alliance has exceeded our expectations. This victory, and the victory at Ignatius this past August, show the true spirit of humanity and its allies. Yet, it saddens us to know that, for now, the advantage is still in the hands of these invaders.
Concorde and the Consulate are doing all they can. Personally, I would recommend that the Verge Alliance consider an exit strategy. Each remaining holding here in the Verge considerevacuating to their home nations in Old Space. Bhruusil colonists, for instance, should make for Catalog. For Independants, a similar urge, yet to a nation of their choice. "
What is Concord telling the Regent? Is the nature of his father's visit buisness? Personal? Both? And why would YC937 59NMP urge us to leave?

Students stage anti-war demonstration
Star System: Borealis Republic Date: 2503-02-22 Taking a page out of Old Earth history books, a number of students at University City on Sapphire staged a "sit-in", protesting the various sabre-rattling and posturing of other Stellar Nations against the possible war against the Externals. Members of all the twelve active colleges, which are Unism, Virtue, Aestheticism, Neosolipsism, Deism-Unism, Utilitarianism, Platonism, NeoKantian, Exonihilism, Verant-Benn, High Rationalism, and Justice Ethics, gathered in the University Quadrangle, chanting, "Just say 'no' to war".
Rebecca Stallworth, a student of the College of Virtue, spoke with TVN: "We are gathered here to show that if all of our schools can gather together in peace, then we can model for humanity and its allies peaceful co-existance with the Externals. Things have gone horribly awry! There's no need to be recalcitrant, or our part, or theirs."
University officials declined comment, indicating that the protest was unplanned, and student-driven. However, one official, speaking on the condition of annonymity, had this to add: "I'm so proud of them all. I've often wondered what is was like during the 1960's in the North American university scene, and here it is, playing out right before my eyes. This is truly special."
The demonstration lasted about 2 hours, featuring the neo-heavy-electronic metal band Midi-Squared (pictured here), and concluded peacefully, and without reported incident; though TVN has learned that there are a number of incidents "being investigated" of QuikSim use, biaxinin use, heavy drinking, and a few reported sexual assaults. Again, University officials had no comment.
Writer's note: This was written as an inside joke largely for myself. The bolded, italicized text was an actual line of my at-the-time officemate/ supervisor that I *ahem!* lovingly call "The Ice Princess". Nerdier than nerd.

AOU Signs Exclusive Deal with T'sa Cluster
Star System: Austrin Ontis Date: 2503-01-16 Austrin-Ontis Unlimited signs exclusive deal with T'sa Cluster privateers
Steven Cook, Vice President of Press Relations for A-O, has recently announced an exlcusive deal reached with the leadership of the T'sa Cluster to provide to all privateers granted a letter of marque from the Cluster special discounts for arms and ammunition. This deal, previously unprecedented, will offer to those privateers of the t'sa the latest military-grade (but not restricted grade) weapons and ammunition, but only with a valid letter of marque from the Cluster.
"It's pure economics, really. These privateers: what are they to do? Use harsh language? Bare hands or claws? I don't think so", says Cook. "What we are offering is 50% off of all military-grade weapons to privateers in the employ of the Cluster, and the first case of 20 clips of ammo for those weapons FREE. Starship weaponry installation, upgrades and maintenence 30% off is also available, which these privateers can access both here in Austrin Ontis space, as well as our Verge depots."
Cook continues, "We are deeply sympathetic to our friends, the t'sa, for their losses in that unprecedented attack, and are deeply concerned for the welfare of the Verge at large. It is for these reasons, also, that we support their cause."
Chaluk Chisier, the leader of the t'sa, was also present at the press announcement, had this to add: "To date, the number of applications for letters of marque from the Cluster has been about where we expected; and sincerely hope that this generous offer from Austrin Ontis Unlimited will help 'sweeted the pan'." Chisier declined to elaborate as to the amount of response the announcement has recieved, as well as the number of letters of marque granted from the Cluster.
Also, to date, TVN has been able to verfy that there has been no response from the Alaundran vessel, "The Liquid Sky", given thier recent honor of the very first letter of marque against the klicks from the Cluster. When such details become available, be sure to tune in here to TVN, as well as here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/escapevelocity2503

Artifact recovered, stolen
Star System: Tychus Date: 2502-09-25 Mount Illumination, YELLOW SKY-A small expedition of xenoarchaeologists from the newly founded University of Illumination returned from Tychus's lowlands claiming to have found an artifact of unknown purpose and clearly Stoneburner design, only to have the artifact vanish without a trace before the scheduled press conference.
Professor Monira, chair of the xenoarchaeology department at the University, and leader of the expedition was flabbergasted: "Whomever took the artifact is in way over his head. We don't even know what it is for nor what it does... and we're the ones who found it!"
It was widely regarded that this artifact is similar to a previously uncovered Stoneburner artifact: a pyramid-shaped stone that pruportedly was the only known cure for black fever, a local disease that constantly plagues Yellow Sky's human settlers. However, the previous, pyramid-shaped artifact ceased functioning just twenty-five days after its recovery and relocation to Mount Illumination. The new artifact, described as "a geometric figure", was to be unveiled to the public in a press conference that was meant to not only announce its discovery, but also the announcement of a sizeable grant, from of all possible benefactors, the Thuldan Empire.
Now it appears that the artifact is gone, and the grant money is frozen, pending the artifact's recovery, if that's even possible. Brother Magnus Kalman, a preiously outspoken critic to the plans to build the University, spoke out again: "It serves them right. As I've said before, this is no trifling matter to be pursued by so-called enlightened archaeologists. The Bretheren have long engaged in the exploration of alien ruins in a safe, controlled manner."
A reward has been posted of C$2500 for information that leads to the safe recovery of the artifact. For more information, go to vtp://MtIlluminationU.tychus.verge/xenoarchaeology/news/reward

Anomaly in Three Fates
Star System: Three Fates Date: 2502-04-08 The unidentified spatial anomaly discovered in the Three fates system will be studied by Concord Survey Service... the problem is, there hasn't been any volunteers. The engimatic "Three Fates", (Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos) were discovered accidentally by the Kepler Survey of 2499, and comprise the only trinary system of Class M stars yet discovered in the Verge. At the time of their initial survey, no anomaly was detected.
Readers may recall the initial report in January of this year, when a highly inflamatory report broadcast over the interstellar grid described a "wormhole-like aberration in the fabric of space" and alleged that the CSS was involved in a highly unethical coverup. The author of the grid announcement still has yet to be identified, but sources say that the Concord Investigative Bureau is "looking into the matter."
The advisement against civillians travelling to the Three Fates may be working against C.S.S. in their attempts to survey. "It's like we put up to conflicting signs: one says 'Do not enter', and the other says 'Help wanted, inquire within'," complains Jacques Neiderst. Neiderst is a regular scout who often provides survey data to C.S.S. & other patrons, and was credited for confirming the find in the Calesque system.
C.S.S. has offered to double its rate of compensation for a survey of the system. Information and forms can be located at C.S.S.'s gridsite at vtp://css.concord.com.verge/scoutfaq/forms

Ancient alien hulk found
Star System: Annahoy Date: 2502-07-17 4.7 AU from Annahoy- A deep space salvage crew hailing from Oberon announced the finding of a huge starship of alien origin in a decaying orbit around the red giant Annahoy. This vessel of unknown origin does not conform to any known hull configuration, and may herald the discovery of a new species.
The captain of the salvage ship Jackal, a Morgan McFadden, had broadcasted his announcement to TVN's news bureau in Aegis, via a relay in Talbott. According to the sensor data Capt. McFadden had sent, the keel of the vessel is an impressive 6.2 kilometers in length, and the beam measured 2.8 kilometers. The holo shows a ship very badly damaged, and most likely inoperable.
"We starrose out of Riga 9, and had hoped to use this as a relay to our destination, when we spotted this on the sensors... normally, we'd simply make claim, and be done with it, but we're in no position to claim something this big. The best we can do for now is stabilize the decaying orbit and ask for assistance. We contacted the Regency as well as Concord to make our claim and to ask for assistance in the salvage operation," says McFadden.
Independant analysis of the hull configuration places this vessel in unknown external origin, claims Lorrid sil Taal, xenoacrhaeologist: " This is unlike any vessel I've ever encountered. If Capt. McFadden's senosors are properly calibrated, this vessel is even older than some fraal city ships, easily by a factor of 1.5. This is truly a significant find."
