Project pointers!

Projects are intended to help groups of people work together on collaborative resouces.

Project setup - Founder only

The person who creates the project is the 'Project Founder' of the project, they have several privileges other project members don't have. These are : adding members, updating project information, approving resources, changing project settings..

Registering a project - When logged in to A.Net a 'register a project' link will appear in the projects-box, allowing you to add your project. The short description should be about 2 or 3 lines at the most, defining the project as good as possible. The 'information / need to know' input field should contain all the details for the project. It's aims, full description, work achieved, whether or not it's ok to join, anything usefull! This information can be updated at will by the project admin later on.

Adding members - You can add any user that is registered on A.Net to your project. You have to type the exact user name as it appears on the 'user register', names are not case-senstive. Project members can access all the sections, whether they are hidden for the public or not. NOTE : This only works when the project member is logged in!

Approve material - Submitted material is not viewable by the public until it gets approved by the project founder. Since the auto-email feature hasn't been implemented for the projects yet, the project founder should check regularly if something has been submitted. They won't appear in the resource section, you have to click the 'approve material' link. Approving a resource is quite easy, just click the appropriate links.

Project settings - This allows the project founder to hide the project forum and resources from non-members, so that they can be finished off before being shown to the world. Later on more settings will be added.

Using the tools

Each project has a forum and resource section. In time other sections will be added, including an art gallery and task planner. Each section can be hidden from non-members by the project founder.

Submit material - This is where you upload stuff. You can also upload material to a project that you are not a member of, so anyone can submit material to your project - but the project founder must still approve each resource before it goes public. NOTE : If you upload material to a hidden resource section you won't be able to see your own work, but the project members will.

Joining a project - If you are interested in joining a project, contact the project founder! You can access his user profile by clicking his name in the projects list. Be sure to mention your A.Net username.

Final note

We strongly encourage people to participate with projects. We believe material can get a whole lot better when created in a well functioning team.

Finalised project material should be available on AlternityRPG.Net.
